Hi,
I really feel with you: juggling many things at the same time.
I like what I read in your first task: "pk1 I understand how ICT can be used to support and enhance what students learn, how they learn, and when and where their learning takes place".
I can easily relate to this because I see it on a daily basis in our campus where students need to have the opportunity to study on and off campus and they need a flexible progression through the courses. To be able to increase access, flexible delivery can be the solution. Flexible delivery that provides equity of space: “expanding the limited number of places available”, equity in relation to the learners’ circumstances: “Dealing with cultural, religious and political consideration”, equity in time: “solving time problems”, equity of access in place: “overcoming physical distance” (The Commonwealth of Learning, 2000, p.7), and equity in learning sequence and program structure.
This flexible learning can be achieved by different means mainly the use of IT, and by doing this, students will be provided with the freedom of choice over time, place and pace of learning.
“Every citizen should be able to access the education and training that they need, at any time in their lives, and when and where they need it” (Bates, p.4)

Hi Fiona, Sounds like your visit to Emmanual was really rewarding. I have been asked to be the facilitator for the ICT Pedagogical Licence for Oakey/Dalby district. Seems like I am the only candidate. A little scary! I don't really think I have the skills however I probably have more than most. I don't know all the details yet so that is in the future. Identify with the ghosting issues. Our teacher/librarian/IT teacher has taken leave for 2 wks. When you think things are bad with the network it is truly amazing just how much worse they can get. Some weeks I think just how much fun it would be working at a school that was really into technology.
How did you go with your assignments? All good?
Jan

Hey there Fiona, Rob from the Uni study desk here (EDU5472).
I have to agree with Jan's comments about FET5621, you will love it and you will spend a lot of time on it ;-)
I think there is a need for people with our interests and passion in the world of education. I get very frustrated with teachers that aren't even interested enough to 'give it a go!'. My aregument is that the jobs that many of our students are going to be doing in the future haven't been invented yet and we have a responsibility to encourage the students to explore the world of technology and stretch the boundaries.
Great work and great to meet you.
Cheers
Rob

Hi Fiona,
I like your blog. I think I will be creating blogs in "Emerging Environments for Learning" this semester. That is if I feel I can cope with two uni subjects as well as the Assignment for RPL in the Curriculum Integration Course.
I can see you will have to take FET5621 Introduction to Web Production. It is a great course and I learnt so much but very very very!!! time consuming. The skills I now have I wouldn't trade for anything. I would say it would be the only subject you could tackle for the semester.
You are doing great work. Your comments of Computer Literacy are very true.
Changing "camp" and going to secondary school I see ICT in a different light. I teach Cert II in Business and IT and Year 10 Business. The whole vocational aspect of ICT in education really has to be important. The Qld Government "earning and learning" program changes everything. I have students coming into and out of my classes to and from employment. Many are just sitting there not wanting to be at school. Filling in time doing nothing. The onus is on the school now to get them out of the classes and into the workforce.
It will be so interesting next year when the new laptop for teachers happens. I do hope that they spend a great deal of money in PD and also allow TIME for teachers to asorb. Professional development in this area is time consuming, rewarding and hard work.
I identified so much with your image posted in the discussion area. I know that I don't have a life anymore, I have a computer.
Great meeting you Fiona, Jan Clewett
